Thoughts

One musician less to shake hands with when I arrive at practice each Friday evening. No one to join with in frustration at the state of dancing. You, Ian in bafflement and gentle amusement. Me, I'm afraid less kindly. Who will I turn to now Ian to temper my frustrations. How will we hear of Laura and Anna and your grandchildren, In the pub after practice? Who will tell us all those stories of Australia and your exploits over there? Sixty years with The Morris, so many stories, so many happy memories, so many years of friendship. I so wish there were more. I will look out for you though each evening, sitting on your star, playing your squeeze box and being happy, always happy. You will have Mark for company and my Jean who was so very, very fond of you. Three of the brightest stars in the sky... Maurice

We have lots of fond memories of Uncle Ian, especially during our trips to England. From walking along Beachy Head, to lovely drives, to singing “Bound for South Australia” in quaint old pubs with his Morris Men. Ian was lots of fun and certainly lived life to the full. He will be missed dearly. Sending lots of love Sarah and Craig

Jim and Pam Edmonds, Chapel Cross. We have such fond and affectionate memories of "One-i-ed Ian" both at Long Man Morris and when he played for us at both Winter Solstice and Summer Solstice Morris. We so much enjoyed hearing Ian's stories and tales of when he lived at Three Cups and his recollections of the village characters he knew. Ian, you were such a talented musician and always seemed to enjoy playing to the dancers' stepping; in between dances your gentle enthusiasm for life shone through. We will miss you and the world will be a sadder place for no longer hearing your music. Rest now, in peace, old friend. Condolences to Ian's family and many friends. With love from Pam and Jim .
